Foster Grandparent Volunteers

Foster Grandparents are low income seniors who share their time and experience in local elementary schools working in small groups or one-on-one to help children read on grade level. Our goal is to add 15 more Foster Grandparents before the school year begins. Both male and female volunteers are needed.  No formal experience in tutoring or mentoring is required – just a genuine love for children!

About the program. Senior Resources, the aging agency for Richland County, has been sponsoring the Foster Grandparent Program since 1984. This Senior Corps program is funded through a grant by the federal Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and serves both Richland and Lexington Counties.
