It's Blessed to Give
“It's more blessed to give then to receive.” Acts 20:35. Many of us have heard this saying since we were kids. Our parents and grandparents tried to instill this in us often times when we were being selfish - not wanting to share our toys and candy. They taught us that giving and sharing is a must and that if we did not share, we would be punished. I believe they were trying to teach us this in our early years in order to shape good character in us. I also believe they were showing us how to have peaceful relationships with others. They wanted us to be Christ-like and to also be good citizens. Hopefully, through learning to share, we would in – turn, give back to our community.
“Give and it shall be given unto you; pressed down, shaken together, and running over...” Luke 6:38. Though you may not have much to give...you can still give what you have. The law of reciprocity works! For example, people that feed the homeless, work in soup kitchens, volunteer in food banks, and provide meals for their family, friends, and neighbors are usually not lacking for foods.
Likewise, many testimonies have been shared about trusting the Lord in giving tithes and offering! People who were barely able to pay their bills have shared how God blessed them out of financial ruin and enable them to have “more than enough” and even purchase homes.
God doesn't want to take from you! He wants to give to you! “. . .thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things…” Matthew 25:23.
